About Me

I am a retired professor of Social Economy and Sociology at the Alice Salomon University Berlin, Germany. My focus in teaching and research is on sociological theory, social policy, migration & ethnicity & interculturality, Europe, globalisation & transnationalism, human rights, human trafficking, community work & organization and social network analysis.

In the past I had a lot of guest lectures and professorships in many countries e.g. Vilnius / Lithuania, in Rovaniemi and Jyväskylä / Finland, Bucharest / Romania, Coimbra / Portugal, Sevilla / Spain, guest professor at the University Sarajewo / Bosnian-Hercegowina, at the Hogeschool van Utrecht / the Netherlands, one semester at the Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Ankara / Turkey and two semesters at the Longwood College, Farmville VA, USA.
